Ouch! Houston was crowned the dirtiest city in the list of top 20 US cities
Oh, Chile! Roommates, you might be living in one of the dirtiest cities in America! A recent study sent the Internet into meltdown after revealing a list of the 20 dirtiest cities in America.
Top 20 dirtiest cities in America
Based on Hill, LawnStarter, a lawn care provider, has evaluated over 150 major U.S. cities. Their research focuses on pollution, living conditions, infrastructure and citizen satisfaction.
Social networks shook after Houston, Texas, has been awarded the title of dirtiest city to live in. The Hill reports that Houston ranked highest due to its severe cockroach problem, high pollution levels, and greenhouse gas emissions from large industrial plants.
Despite these assertions, some Houstonians expressed greater satisfaction with the city’s cleanliness than residents in 33 other major cities.
Completing the top 5 list is Newark, New Jersey, secured second place. It dropped from the number one spot as dirtiest city.
The list goes on with San Bernardino at number three, next is Detroit, Michigan at number four, and JErsey City, New Jersey at number five.
Many cities in California, including Bakersfield, Fresno, Los Angeles and San Bernardino, were also identified as the dirtiest. San Bernardino, for the second year in a row, had the highest number of residents dissatisfied with cleanliness. Furthermore, the study highlights the water challenges facing the Southwest, which are increasing due to drought and climate change. However, Las Vegas emerged as the most polluted area, holding 19th place.
