Park Hyatt Marrakech finally makes its long-awaited debut

Park Hyatt is making a splash in Morocco.

The resort officially opened this week after a soft opening earlier this year. The launch has been more than a decade in the making, as the 19-acre resort First published in 2008 with plans to open in 2011… only to see delays over the years, until this year. But good things are coming World of Hyatt members are waiting.

“As a key market in our regional growth strategy, we are excited to open Morocco’s first Park Hyatt hotel in Marrakech. This hotel is a highly anticipated addition to our portfolio as Morocco enjoys renewed interest as a top cultural destination among discerning travelers,” Javier Águila, Hyatt’s president of Europe, Africa and the Middle East, said in a statement.

“Offering a wealth of new experiences in art, culture and cuisine, along with the region’s ancient and historical treasures, Park Hyatt Marrakech offers guests the perfect opportunity to discover the beauty of the Red City through this modern sanctuary with timeless luxury,” Águila added.

Park Hyatt Marrakech is located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, about 5.5 miles from the city’s historic Medina and is the first resort to open at the Al Maaden Golf Resort.

The Imaad Rahmouni-designed resort features modern architecture and design inspired by its Arab-Berber heritage, while still respecting the natural beauty surrounding the resort—so guests will enjoy plenty of expansive windows to take in views of the nearby Atlas Mountains and Mount Toubkal.

The hotel’s 130 residential-style rooms and suites feature traditional Berber carpets and modern artwork. In all, there are more than 700 works of art designed specifically for Park Hyatt Marrakech by artists from Senegal, Morocco, Benin, Spain, France, Italy and Japan.

Spaciousness seems to be the name of the game when it comes to luxury accommodations. Outdoor terraces and soaking tubs come standard in rooms at the Park Hyatt Marrakech.

Spend more on a suite for extra features like walk-in closets, more entertaining space and, in larger suites, a private hammam. One three-bedroom duplex even has its own gym, hair salon and kitchen.

Dining options include Tfaya, an Arabic-style brasserie by Moroccan chef Issam Rhachi. Le Pavillion is the resort’s all-day restaurant, while Park Hyatt brand mainstay The Living Room offers bar snacks and cocktails.

But what really impresses is the excellent wellness element: the 23,000-square-foot Park Hyatt Marrakech spa uses products from brands like Sodashi and Nectarome. Guests will also have access to a hair salon, fitness center, outdoor pool, and indoor heated pool.
