Patlabor EZY will start in 2026
The Patlabor EZY anime project announced in 2017 will launch in 2026. The new main image shows the Ingram Plus model under the night sky with birds flying in the background. [Thanks, AIR!]
JC staff will produce the animation while GAZEN handles the CG. ELECTRICITY GROUP will produce the project. JC Staff is an animation studio that has worked on shows like The Tragic Life of Saiki K, Servant of Zero, Shokugeki no Soma, Azumanga Daioh, and A Certain Magical Index franchise. It doesn’t work on the original. Labor OVA or ONA.
Kenji Kawai will return as composer for Patlabor EZY. It will also feature Yutaka Izubuchi (who is mechanical designer because Labor) as director, as well as Kazunori Itou (Patlabor Mobile Police) is working on the script. So even though there’s a new animation studio working on it, many of the main creative staff are still Labor veteran.
Labor is a science fiction series that includes a manga, television series, OVA, movies, light novels, and more. The series takes place in a futuristic Japan where companies employ giant robots (Labors) to do jobs like construction. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department uses Patlabors in place of patrol cars to fight crime and solve Labor-related incidents. Although Noa Izumi—a Labor otaku—is the main character, everyone in Division 2 gets some time in the spotlight.
Patlabor EZY will launch in 2026. More details about this project will be announced in the future. Zoids x Patlabor: Codename BUDDY will be available first. This comic will be released on Fall 2024.
