Perplexity AI to Launch Search Ads in Q4
Nvidia and Jeff Bezos-backed Perplexity AI said Thursday they plan to introduce advertising on their artificial intelligence-powered search platform in the fourth quarter.
Last month, the AI startup launched a program for publishers with an initial group of partners, including TIME, Der Spiegel, and Fortune, in which the company plans to share revenue from interactions that cite publishers’ content.

Microsoft has applied OpenAI technology to its Bing search engine through an early investment, while Google rolled out a preview of its AI-powered bot to the wider public at its developer conference in May.
In April, Perplexity AI raised $62.7 million from existing investors like Nvidia and new investors including Garry Tan, CEO of Y Combinator, and Brad Gerstner, founder and CEO of Altimeter Capital.
The round of funding values the company at more than $1 billion, double what it raised three months earlier.
