Plucky Squire Launches on PS5 September 17 as Part of PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium – PlayStation.Blog
Finally, the heroic tale of the brave warrior Jot is ready to be told! We’re excited to announce the release date of The Plucky Squire, coming to PlayStation 5 on September 17. That means you’ll be able to venture into the game’s colorful and adventurous story world – and beyond – in just a month. Woah! Here’s a shiny new launch trailer to tide you over until then.
But wait, there’s even more big news! We’re also excited to reveal that The Plucky Squire will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members as part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog at launch. So if you have a membership, you’ll be able to dive right in when it launches. We look forward to inviting PlayStation players to the land of Mojo to help Jot embark on his incredible multidimensional journey.
In The Plucky Squire, Jot can jump from the pages of his storybook world into a three-dimensional world beyond. But wherever he goes, danger lurks—whether it’s a terrifying giant insect in the 3D world, or one of the evil wizard Humpgrump’s monstrous minions in the story. Luckily, a friendly shopkeeper named Martina is here to help.
As you explore the twin worlds of The Plucky Squire, you’ll come across inspiration in the form of light bulbs. Smash trees, cut bushes, or kill enemies, and these glowing collectibles will drop, which can then be traded for items at Martina’s various shops. You’ll want to collect as many inspirations as you can, as they’ll unlock a bunch of super cool and super effective fighting moves for Jot.
One of these moves allows Jot to throw his sword at enemies at a distance—and if you spend more bulbs to upgrade, you can throw it even further. This allows you to attack enemies from a safe distance, and if you lose your sword or get stuck in a wall, you can pull it back to you—like magic!
Another move allows Jot to unleash a powerful spinning attack. He’ll swing his sword in a circle and, if timed correctly, can damage multiple enemies at once. Use this power among a group of enemies for maximum damage—and if you upgrade, you can even add a second spin into the mix.
You can also buy a neat jump attack for Jot, allowing him to majestically leap into the air and slam down with his blade for devastating effect. Not only that, you can upgrade his regular sword attack to deal extra damage. Humgrump’s minions won’t know what hit them.
Inspiration can also be spent on art scrolls, which reveal more about how the land of Mojo was created—including concept art, early versions of levels, and other art gems. Art scrolls can also be found hidden throughout the game world, but the scrolls you buy are exclusive to Martina’s shop.
This is just a small taste of what awaits you in the pages of The Plucky Squire. You can experience this space-faring adventure for yourself when it launches on PlayStation 5 on September 17.
