Pokemon is still a good series; people are just getting older

One new one at a time Pokemon When the game launched, the fanbase seemed to split into two: those who loved it and those who thought GameFreak had hit another rock bottom. When Pokemon Scarlet When it first came out, my opinion was closer to the second camp due to the many bugs and lack of exciting new Pokemon in the early stages of the game. But then, I finally decided to get DLC and really clear CrimsonAnd you know what I realized? I was wrong. Pokemon It doesn’t get worse or go downhill or anything like that. It still feels exactly the same as when I first started the game as a kid.

Pokemon is one of those franchises that suffers because of its massive fan base. With most popular series, people know what they want and what they are getting into. Unlike Persona A which can be played, for example, Final Fantasy XVI in such a different way than Person B does it that they come away with a completely separate experience. But Pokemon like The Sims. There are so many people with so many different expectations or desires that it’s almost impossible for GameFreak to please everyone. Players who are only interested in the story, characters, or Mon collection aspects probably don’t care as much about the meta or difficulty. Therefore, their opinions on various aspects of the game will be very different from those of players Pokemon mainly PvP elements. It’s a precarious balancing act with no right answer other than just making separate games for separate demographics.

I’m a player who cares about completing storylines, taking pictures with my favorite NPCs, putting together cute outfits, and completing the PokeDex. My friends are OC creators. It’s pretty much the same way I play, except with an added layer of imagination. Our conversations are different than the ones I have with my more competitive friends. Reading and listening to people compare the stats or movesets of Pokemon A and B to decide who they want on their team is like watching my favorite show in a foreign language. And I doubt they can relate to the fact that I have Froslass on a team for no reason other than “It’s Ice/Ghost and pretty.”

How everyone plays Pokemon is valid. It’s not like we live in Pokemon world where Paul’s method of picking and choosing Pokemon based on stats is considered bad behavior. Since I’m not a competitive player, I don’t really understand people’s frustration with mechanics like Dynamaxing or Terastalizing. I don’t engage with them outside of story battles, so they’re the same as Mega Evolution, which PvP players seem to enjoy. Not to say that I’m the most stereotypical female gamer ever, but the only things that can really bother me about Pokemon now lacks interesting characters and avatar customization. Surprise! I care more about the gathering and looking cute than the combat mechanics. For those of you thinking, “Gosh, I bet her favorite Eevee evolution is Sylveon (insulting)”, yes, you’re right… it really is…

But does that make me any less valuable as a player? It really shouldn’t. That’s like saying kids who only care about collecting a legendary team are playing the wrong game. Hell, you could argue that they are GameFreak’s actual target audience. That’s something we should all keep in mind. These games are E for Everyone, and yes, that includes kids who don’t care if a move is Physical or Special when it comes to getting their Pokemon to learn it.

A common complaint people have about Pokemon These days, they’re too easy. Mechanics like camping and Amie make Friendship easy to raise. Even with luck, Friendship in NPC battles can feel too strong. NPC trainers challenge you with only one or two weaklings on their team. Shared Experience significantly reduces the time and effort it takes to level up a weaker Pokémon. Honestly, I find the old method of starting with a weak Pokémon you want to train and then swapping them out for something stronger to be annoying. It’s not fun and it doesn’t make the game harder. Boredom doesn’t equal difficulty, and difficulty doesn’t equal fun. I’m on Team Shared Experience. But it sucks that we can’t turn it off.

What makes me think about how PokemonThe quality of ‘s is just as good, if not better, than the previous games is the sense of excitement. Isn’t that what games are all about? Exploring Paldea reminded me of the first time I left Twinleaf Town, and the newer game Pokemon The game gives gym leaders and rivals more depth beyond the one or two features that make the game Actually feels like a role playing game.

I know people hate Sword And Shieldbut personally I really enjoyed it for the character building and the camping. Bede, Marnie, and Hop all had satisfying character arcs throughout the story, and the gym leaders seemed more fleshed out than those in previous games. I’m glad GameFreak continued this with the competitors in Crimson/Purplebecause they’re honestly the best parts of the game. Yes, I know characters like Lillie and N existed, but I feel like their games only had one or two really interesting characters compared to the Switch generations.

Alright, Crimson Have so many problems. There’s a reason I’ve been away from this game for so long. The open world is really buggy. There’s also too many old Pokemon. This is its own problem with very little solution other than something like Black/White where old Pokemon are only available later in the story. Some people really enjoy using or catching Pokemon that have appeared in previous entries. Others enjoy the new Pokemon. camping repairman so bad compared to Sword/Shield‘s. My biggest problem is with the marketing. While it’s not impossible to complete any storylines or challenge any of the gym leaders/Team Star bosses/Titans in the order you wantThe lack of level adjustment can make missions too hard or too easy for your group.

I appreciate GameFreak’s half-hearted attempt at doing something new and ambitious. It doesn’t always work, and the games are too expensive right now for the “Wow, you tried!” participation prize. But if a big complaint from fans is that the games are stagnant and never change the formula, then it’s okay to be angry at GameFreak. do changing the formula sounds silly. Also, this is another problem with a large fan base. Not everyone dislikes the fact that they follow a formula! I don’t care, but I still like the way Crimson has gone about combining multiple storylines together. If the new direction of Pokemon is to focus on story and characters instead of PvP, I’m totally fine with that. Actually, from what I hear, the current meta is really interesting so now I’m not sure why people are talking about Crimson And Purple like it’s irredeemable trash.

Honestly, every time “New Pokemon the game SUCKS!” discourse pops up on my timeline and I read through it, I never see a real specific complaint. It seems like people like the Pokemon series, but they still haven’t accepted that Pokemon The games are never so difficult that they become a challenge for someone with a general understanding of game mechanics. GameFreak has always designed them for kids. GameFreak remains tight-lipped about what’s going on in Pokemon Legend: ZAAs for the future of the main games, it’s hard to say what we’ll see next year. Hopefully the fan reception will be better than previous games.

Pokemon Scarlet And Purple To be available on Nintendo Switch.
