Poll: With ‘Switch 2’ Rumors, Will There Be a Direct This September?
It’s futile to try to predict Nintendo’s plans but join us in putting on our red noses and white faces because we’re about to do just that.
It is September now and frequent means there’s a Direct in the works. Sure, Nintendo has been known to mix things up when it comes to presentations (just look at last month’s back-to-back events Indie World and Partner Direct), but a September release is the safest bet over the Switch’s lifespan. In fact, as long as the Switch has existed, Nintendo has something to show up in September, as you can see in Nintendo Direct Broadcast History Guideand as Andy Robinson belong to VGC was raised on Twitter yesterday.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that Direct is guaranteed in the coming days or weeks, but there’s no doubt that the Big N has a formidable track record.
Of course, all eyes are on the ‘Switch 2’ and we’ll hear about it in the “fiscal year”. “Industry Whispers” A few weeks ago it was suggested that September could be the month the console would be revealed and rumors have been swirling ever since with speculation about Backward compatibility once again became the top topic of discussion.

Does Nintendo really want to reveal the hottest news right now and inevitably hurt Switch sales in the process? No, logically speaking, but hey, this is Nintendo we’re talking about.
Either way, that doesn’t rule out a standard, software-focused Direct, does it? The final quarter of 2024 looks to be pretty busy for Nintendo, with a new Zelda, Mario Party Jamboree FestivalAnd Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood were lined up before we reached 25. However, there is always room for more.
Throw us Metroid Prime 2 Remakesome exciting third-party titles and another release in 2025 (Donkey Kong Country Returns HD And Metroid Prime 4: Beyond already there, don’t forget) and you’ve easily got enough to fill a 20-minute show with holiday surprises. Perhaps the smaller, first-party gems could support some of the bigger third-party announcements. Let’s face it, if — we even dare think It’s — the sequel to Hollow Knight is here, and it’s your Direct!

Last month’s back-to-back Indie World and Partner Direct events might suggest that this year’s Big N showcase schedule isn’t as predictable as it once was. But the facts don’t lie, and as the Tokyo Games Show approaches (it starts on September 26 this year), Nintendo has repeatedly something to present to us in September.
