What is the largest Princess cruise ship?

The largest Princess cruise ship can accommodate 4,300 passengers Princess Sun, this is also the newest ship of the line. It just came out in February.

Sun Princess is the first ship in Princess Cruises’ new Sphere class of ships, which are designed to be much larger and have more locations than the ships in the line’s last new series of ships, the Royal Class.

Sun Princess has a total tonnage of 177,882 tons, about 22% larger than the largest ship in the Royal class (Discovery Princess 145,000 tons). Royal class ships range in size from 142,229 to 145,000 tons.

Note that gross tons is a size measurement that refers to interior space, not weight.

The second ship in the Sphere Class line, Star Princess, is being built at a shipyard in Italy and will launch in October 2025.

What is the smallest Princess cruise ship?

The smallest Princess cruise ship is the Coral Princess, which can accommodate 2,000 passengers. At just 91,267 tons, she is about 36% smaller than Discovery Princess, making it a significantly smaller ship.

Coral Princess launched in 2002, a time when cruise ships were built much smaller than today and had fewer locations. At 21 years old, it is also one of the two oldest ships in the Princess fleet and will likely be phased out over the next decade.

Although significantly smaller than the newest Princess ships, Coral Princess still has many of the signature spaces and venues found on new Princess ships, including an Italian eatery called Sabatini’s and a steakhouse .

Entertainment venues on the Coral Princess include a relatively large main theater for production performances, a secondary lounge offering comedy shows and other entertainment, and a casino. Like other Princess ships, the ship’s top deck is primarily devoted to the pool area with a hot tub and lounge chairs. There is also a spa.

Although smaller and older than the typical Princess ship, the Coral Princess has a loyal base of Princess fans who prefer smaller and more intimate ships.

Are larger Princess cruise ships coming?

Still unclear. Princess now has a new ship on order, the Star Princess. But the final size of Star Princess won’t be known until the ship launches in late 2025.

Star Princess will be the second ship in Princess’s new Sphere class of ships. It could be very similar in size to the first ship in the series, the new Sun Princess. But it’s not uncommon for each new ship in the series to be slightly larger than the previous one.

Star Princess is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard near Monfalcone, Italy.

Note that this is not the first time a Princess has named a ship Sun Princess or Star Princess. Both are names recycled from previous Princess ships. Princess operated smaller ships under the names Sun Princess and Star Princess until 2020.

What is the difference between the larger and smaller Princess ships?

The largest Princess cruise ships have room for more onboard sites and attractions than smaller Princess ships. That makes them more attractive to travelers who prefer a mega-resort experience with more options than staying at a smaller resort.

On the largest Princess ships, the Sphere Class and Royal Class ships, you’ll find the largest plaza-like central lounges in the Princess fleet surrounded by plenty of bars and restaurants; multiple entertainment venues for live shows, comedy acts and more; and a spacious pool deck with more sunning space than you’ll find on smaller Princess ships.

You’ll also find a number of additional features found only on Royal Class ships, including, on some Royal Class ships, a “SeaWalk” with a glass floor that extends across the side of the ship.

Princess’ smaller cruise ships are also generally older cruise ships and lack some of the above features more typical of newer ships. These smaller Princess ships offer a more intimate feel, at least within the population of relatively large, mass-market ships, and they accommodate fewer people.

While Sphere Class and Royal Class ships can accommodate more than 4,500 passengers with each berth full, the line’s smaller ships (especially the relatively small Island Princess and Coral Princess) typically sail with only 2,000 passengers on board. ship.

That makes the smaller Princess ships a good choice for those who want to try Princess but don’t want to travel with large crowds. As a result, the smallest ships in the Princess fleet attract a small group of Princess fans who enjoy the more intimacy of a cruise ship and don’t mind giving up some onboard amenities to get it. They are also usually less expensive to sail every day.

Additionally, because of their size, the smallest ships at Princess Cruises can operate itineraries to places that larger ships cannot easily visit. Not all ports in the world can accommodate a ship the size of Sun Princess.
