Ralph Lauren and La Roche-Posay: Here Are Some of My Favorite Products from Amex at the US Open

It’s the last week of August, which means tennis fans from New York City and around the world are eagerly boarding the 7 train to Queens for one reason only: The US Open Tennis Championships will return to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

From August 26 to September 8, attendees can enjoy all the benefits of the Open, including one of my favorite things: the credit card lounge.

This year I am back to report on American Express Centurion Lounge and an engaging two-tiered Fan Experience.

We toured Amex’s offerings on the first day of the tournament. Here’s what happened.

Centurion Lounge

The most exclusive perk for cardholders is the Centurion Lounge, which, like last year, is located on the second floor of Louis Armstrong Stadium. Daily hours are as follows:

  • From August 28 to September 4, from 11am to 8pm
  • September 5-6, 11am-7pm
  • September 7, 11am to 4pm
  • September 8, 11am to 2pm

The following cardholders can access the Centurion Lounge:

The lounge menu includes crispy chicken with sweet chili sauce; grilled beef with Israeli pickles, tahini, rice pilaf and chickpeas; sungold tomatoes and serrano peppers with labneh and basil; hummus with pita bread, tomatoes, schug and sesame dukkah; and crudite with green goddess sauce. For dessert, there are chocolate chip cookies and chocolate mousse with whipped cream and cherries.

As usual, the tournament’s signature liquor is Honey Deuce, along with a variety of wines and cocktails will be served.

Food and beverage services are complimentary for all guests and each cardholder will receive a drink voucher (one for Platinum cardholders and two for Centurion members) upon entry. These vouchers can be redeemed at the lounge.

Inside, the lounge feels and looks almost identical to the 2023 Centurion Lounge, and the only notable difference is the immersive activation feature. Previously, lounge visitors could create a personalized leather passport holder based on their test results to determine their traveler type; this year, you can create a travel pouch and send destination-themed postcards.

Currently, all Book on Resy Full, but you can add yourself to the waiting list by clicking “Notify” to receive an SMS message if space becomes available.

Platinum cardholders can book a table for up to two people, while Centurion cardholders can book a table for up to four people. Each booking comes with up to one hour of lounge access.

All guests must be at least 21 years of age.

American Express Fan Experience

Additional Amex experiences are housed within the Fan Experience, including a downstairs area open to any guests attending the tournament. Here are the hours of operation:

  • August 28-30, 9:30am-8pm
  • August 31, 9:30am to 5:30pm and 7pm to 11pm
  • September 1-4, 9:30am-8pm
  • September 5-6, 11am-8pm
  • September 7-8, 11am-6pm

Highlights this year include a make-your-own tennis ball station, where you can embroider your initials on a tennis ball; a Top Spin 2K25 station, where you can play solo or with a partner; and two tennis stations—a glow-in-the-dark ping pong table and a full-size tennis court—where visitors can hit a few balls.

Card member lounge

The Amex Member Lounge is located on the 2nd floor of the Fan Experience and is open to all Amex cardholders.

The immersive activities are similar to last year’s lounge, with the highlight being the expanded Ralph Lauren merchandise collection. Here, you can customize your Ralph Lauren water bottle, hat, denim jacket, towel, tote bag, shirt, and sweatshirt with four Amex-exclusive designs.

Food and drinks are available for purchase at a small bar and a Honey Deuce booth. A complimentary scoop of limited edition Van Leeuwen Match Point Mint Chip x Amex ice cream is served at various times throughout the day. Full-size samples of La Roche-Posay sunscreen (one per guest) are also available.

Admission is first come, first served and cardholders may bring two guests.

Other Amex activations

In addition to the Fan Experience and lounge, there is an Amex Shop on the South Plaza, accessible to any Amex cardholder. Here, you can purchase concessions, exclusive Ralph Lauren-branded US Open merchandise, and products from small New York City businesses through a checkout-free store.

Amex cardholders who spend $100 or more on eligible US Open on-site purchases with an eligible Amex card can earn $10 back. To take advantage of this offer, Log in to your account to check if the offer applies to your card. If so, you can add the offer to your card.

Additional Amex Offers can be registered through the US Open app and at Amex-branded locations throughout the venue, including:

  • Checked Baggage Discounts $5 off one checked bag when you use your Amex card at East and South Gates
  • Free loaner radio (one per cardholder) to watch live ESPN broadcasts and highlights
  • One-time $15 credit when you spend $100 or more online at La Roche-Posay
  • Get $2 cash back up to two times, for a total of $4 when you spend $2 or more with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (New York City’s public transportation network) by tapping to pay
  • One-time $10 credit when you spend $50 in a single transaction at Eataly locations in New York City (excluding Eataly offers at the US Open)

The last line

American Express Fan Experiences, Card Member Lounges, Centurion Lounges and Amex Stores will be open throughout the US Open.

While you’ll have to pay an annual fee for the Centurion Lounge premium pass, the lounge and free food and drinks—along with Wi-Fi, charging ports, and air conditioning—can make this once-a-year experience worth it for tennis fans. This is especially true when you consider the price of food and drinks, as well as the crowds at the stadium.

Be sure to check out the Fan Experience before or after a much-needed break at the Centurion Lounge. With crowds on the first day, I recommend heading to the Amex spaces before the first session in the morning to get the most out of it.

When I think about my annual trip to the US Open with Amex, the thing that makes me smile the most is the custom Ralph Lauren products and complimentary full-size La Roche-Posay sunscreen.
