Random: Of course someone is playing Metaphor: ReFantazio on their 3DS

Atlus’s newest role-playing game Metaphor: ReFantazio launched on PlayStation, Xbox and PC last week and according to our friends at push square And Pure Xboxit’s actually quite good. Naturally, a game of this size ultimately didn’t make it to the Switch, but that didn’t stop some people from playing it on the Nintendo handheld (thanks, GameRadar).

Reddit user bjatman8008 took to the gaming forums to share their somewhat unique setup for the epic RPG: the New 3DS XL. Yes, you read that right, they’re playing it on Nintendo’s 2014 clamshell console.

Not much, but in the following video you’ll see bjatman8008 introduce the opening cutscene and a small play games through the (relatively) dim screen of the New 3DS XL. Ah, just the way Atlus intended to play…

Of course, the metaphor is not running on the 3DS in this case – note there is no fire coming from it – instead, as explained in the thread, users simply transfer their PC copy of the game to a handheld has been modified. It might be a bit disappointing for those hoping some stealthy version had been ported over, but this is still an option for those who really want to swap their big screen and comfortable controller for, well , this.
