Random: This guy found a lost Pokémon Emerald container and flew to Japan to ‘heal’ it
If you think back a few years ago, you might recall a rather touching story about a guy who happened to meet one “abandoned” copy belong to Nintendog on the late night train home and set out to search for the lost puppies’ owners. It’s a sweet story told in five parts by content creator and Nintendo Life reader Ben Riou-Pollard (@ben.m0v), and now, two years later, he’s back at work.
Don’t be afraid, this is not another story about abandoned dog, but To be one of the abandoned Pokémon. You see, while promoting a local car sale earlier this month, another lost game found its way into Ben’s path: a beat-up copy of the game Emerald Pokémon. And so, naturally, we’re once again buying tickets for another emotional roller coaster of the TikTok series.
After asking around to see if he could find the original owner of the GBA game (obviously to no avail), Ben decided to take the cart home, clean it up, and see if he can find out who it belongs to by checking the Coach Name and team information.
This was also unsuccessful, with Ben’s DS unable to recognize the cart despite a good scrubbing. So what’s the next logical step? Throw away the stroller? Return it to the car boot sale? Make a series elaborate ‘Found’ poster like he did before with Nintendogs?
Of course not! The next logical step is to fly to Japan and get help from Pokémon Center officials. Clear.
And so Ben did it. We don’t want to spoil the three-part finale with writing, but suffice it to say that things went well…sort of. part one And two is available on Ben’s TikTok and we’ve included the third and final chapter below so you can see how the ‘healing’ process takes place.
Before anyone rushes to comment on it, yes, we are Pretty this is definitely a fake cartridge, and yes, Ben knows this too (a quick glance at the responses on any of the series’ videos will make it clear). But so what? The journey to find its rightful owner is equally admirable, and we’d be lying if we said we didn’t watch the whole thing with a grin on our faces – let’s admit it, We’ve all picked up a bootleg GBA cart or two in our lives.
But that’s not all the Nintendo content from Ben in recent months. While on a Pokémon rescue mission, he also stopped by Kyoto’s Nintendo Store to pick up one of those. luxury tote bag with dedicated Game Boy pocket. And yes, there is one TikTok for that purchase too. Okay, now here we are Actually jealous.
Thanks Ben for reporting on your latest lost game adventure!
