CBS News reports that the first session of the RNC is scheduled to begin at 1:45 p.m. ET. Additionally, local CBS stations will air live coverage of the keynote speakers each night. Two notable members of the Trump family not on the RNC agenda include Ivanka Trump and Melania Trump. The former First Lady shared a message following her husband’s assassination, but she has no plans to campaign on his behalf this week.

Donald Trump secures GOP nomination and picks Vice President

Trump is also expected to accept his nomination for the ticket at the RNC. According to Related PressRepublicans nominated Trump at the opening ceremony of the Republican National Convention on Monday.

He is believed to have received the majority of votes needed to secure the nomination, including in his home state of Florida. This is the third consecutive election that Donald will represent the Republican Party in the race for the White House.

Additionally, on Monday, Trump announced his vice presidential pick, Senator JD Vance from Ohio. According to AP, he is the first millennial to run for a major party.

“After careful consideration and thought, as well as considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the best person to serve as Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
