‘Scary Movie’ Actress Erica Ash Dies at 46

Actress’s family Erica Ash has confirmed that the 46-year-old has passed away. Known for her comedic talents, the ‘Scary Movie’ star passed away after battling cancer. Her mother, Diana Ash, confirm tragic news to TMZ After being posted and removed from BET, the news was first shared on Monday morning (July 29).

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister and friend, Erica Chantal Ash (1977-2024). After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones,” Diana Ash is said to have said so.

Her breakthrough years came around 2006 and 2007 when she appeared regularly on two seasons of ‘The Big Gay Sketch Show.’ Erica is also known for her roles and appearances in films and television shows, including Survivors’ Remorse, Real Husbands of Hollywood, In Contempt and Mad TV. She was born in 1977 in Florida, over the term.

Her mother, Diana, also spoke to the outlet about her daughter’s success on screen and the woman she has become off screen. Mama Ash asked people to donate to a cancer fund. However, she did not specify which variant of the disease her daughter died from.

“Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her wit, humor, and true passion for life. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever. In memory of Erica, the family requests that all donations be directed to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or the Breast Cancer Foundation of your choice. We are so grateful for the kind expressions of love and support during this difficult time.”

Celebrities and fans react to Erica Ash’s death

Hours ago TMZ, radio host Roland Martin also confirmed Erica Ash’s death in a post on X (formerly Twitter), revealed in a separate post that he knew her “well.” Near the end of the statement, he offered his friend’s posthumous endorsement of Kamala Harris’ presidential bid.

“I am sad to confirm that our beloved sister @TheEricaAsh is now an ancestor. She was 46. Erica was a talented, funny and serious actress. I admired her greatly. She took politics seriously and would have been one of @KamalaHarris’ biggest supporters. Please keep her family in your prayers.”

In just a few minutes of Martin, her close friend Loni love also confirmed the passing of Erica Ash. She also praised the late ‘Scary Movie’ actress for her sense of humor and career.

“I am saddened to confirm the passing of my friend and fellow actress Erica Ashe…. Erica was talented and funny whether it was on Survivor’s Remorse or Madtv, she would pour her heart and soul into her work. She was always there.. now she is gone.. My deepest condolences to her family and fans.”
