Spotify’s AI Playlists Are Now Available in the US — Here’s How to Get It
Spotify’s AI playlists are rolling out globally. The platform recently revealed that beta features are being expanded from the original testing site to four other countries: the United States, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand.
The first AI Playlist is available for Spotify Premium user in April 2024 in the UK and Australia. As the name suggests, this tool creates playlists through the power of AI that generates like ChatGPT.

Here’s how it works: From “Your Library,” you first tap the Plus button in the upper right corner and select “AI Playlist.” Then you choose a pre-made prompt or create your own. Spotify advises users to “be creative and specific.” The more details you give the AI, the more accurate and personalized the resulting playlist will be.
For example, you can ask the AI to put together a playlist for a romantic date at home or create a mixtape of upbeat pop songs. Spotify claims that its “most successful playlists” are created using prompts that mention “genre, mood, artist, [and] decades”.
Once you receive a reminder, the feature will generate a preview playlist that you can edit. You can remove songs or tell the AI to “refine the playlist with additional reminders.” When you’re happy with your selection, tap Create and the playlist will automatically be saved to your Library. Pretty simple.
As before, AI Playlists will only be available in English for Premium subscribers on Android and iOS. There’s nothing for Spotify AI on the web or desktop apps yet.

Spotify says that since the feature is still in beta, it “won’t produce results for non-music-related prompts” like current events. Does this mean the final version will support non-music inputs? We can’t say for sure.
Additionally, the company claims to have implemented security measures to reject potentially annoying prompts. There’s no word yet on when AI Playlist will exit beta.
