Summary: Nintendo World Championship Review: NES Version

But now, let’s get to the summary. The picture is quite varied this time, with many different scores across the board. We’ll start at the beginning with God is a Geek gave Nintendo’s latest game a 9/10, calling it “one of the best multiplayer party games released this year.”

There hasn’t been a better excuse to play games at a family gathering since the heyday of the Wii. Even if I’m alone, it gets me excited and filled with nostalgia, which is a pure and simple win.

Although no official rating is provided, Polygon also seemed positive about the game, praising how the challenges allow you to approach classic titles from a new perspective.

Despite being a collection of old NES titles repackaged as a minigame speedrunning challenge, I can’t give a Nintendo World Championship: NES Version down. My thumb (and my work deadline) are hurting because of it.

Drop the object gently, Game information provider gave Nintendo World Championships a 7.75/10, praising the game’s nostalgia even if there were some disappointments along the way.

Aiming to highlight Nintendo’s history, reminisce with local friends, and play classic games as long as you have fun, the Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition succeeded in its purpose.

With the same score of 7/10 as us, Bible GAME I find NWC quite nice but a bit narrow.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is awesome. It’s like walking into an arcade that offers more than the standard experience you’re used to. As a competitive product, it’s only as good as its audience and needs continued support from Nintendo.

destroy gave it a slightly lower 6.5/10, arguing that the game could be better served as “a supplementary mode for some types of NES Remix compilation”.

This isn’t for NES fans, it’s for speedrunning fans. Even then, it’s probably more for speedrunning fans. And have a large group of friends with nostalgic thoughts.

VGC also shared a similar sentiment in his 3/5 review, praising Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition’s local multiplayer mode but feeling disappointed by the lack of online features.

Playing with friends is great. Retro enthusiasts who want to play alone can still find a decent amount of content, but they’ll have to look past the disappointing amount of online features.

Finally, this downward trend continued in TechRadar GamesNWC rated it 2/5, noting that the game lacked variety and frequently had “disappointing” challenges.

What we have is only entertaining for a few short hours, and even then it’s too disjointed and tedious to provide any real challenge or entertainment except for a few.
