‘Switch 2’ renderings hint at a sleek, classy successor
So without further ado, let’s dive into the weird, wonderful world of Switch 2 rendering…
First, the technology page @91mobiles posted what they claim is an accurate look at the Switch 2’s final design. What’s perhaps most notable here is the color scheme, which shows off a black Switch with blue and orange accents on Joy-Con controllers.
Blue and orange have historically been very compatible with each other, with Movie posters in particular use combination to great effect. We wouldn’t be surprised if this turns out to be quite accurate.
Immediately after that, users @CardnlH introduced their own renders of the Switch 2, following 91mobile’s lead in terms of the device itself, but also choosing to showcase the rumored dock and Switch 2 logo. We can see that the logo contains number ‘2’ next to the usual Switch icon.
user @Elymar_Tj took it a step further with their renders, showing off a video of the Switch 2 using the rumored mouse functionality via the Joy-Con’s optical sensor. It theorizes that games like Metroid Prime remade can be used with the sensor, essentially allowing the user to control the game in a similar way to a classic PC keyboard and mouse setup. It’s neat, but take this with a huge grain of salt.
Of course, we can’t forget accessory manufacturer Genki either. They posted the following video render to their official website during CES 2025, which showcases the Switch 2 and its Joy-Con in use with Genki-recommended accessories. We get a glimpse of the optical sensor along with the mechanism used to magnetically separate the Joy-Con from the main body of the Switch.
Moving away from the console for a moment, recent rumors suggest that the retail box for physical Switch 2 games will be larger than the retail box of the current Switch console. Known leaker ‘Necro’ Felipe (@necrolip) presented what he believes to be an accurate representation of these rumors in an online post.
Finally, in case black is not your color, users @combatcarl08 has created renders of the Switch 2 with an alternate white color scheme to go along with the rumored black model. It retains the same blue and orange accents, but to our eyes doesn’t stand out as much as black.
So there you have it! It’s only a matter of time until Nintendo finally puts us out of our misery and officially reveals what the Switch 2 will actually look like, but until then, these impressive images can is the best representation we’ve had to date.
