Switch Online’s “mature” Nintendo 64 app is now available in the West
In case you somehow missed it earlier, Nintendo has finally launched its “mature” rated Nintendo 64 app for Switch Online users in the West. This was announced alongside the return of Turok: Dinosaur hunter and Rare’s legendary title Perfect darkness – “online multiplayer now”.
Unfortunately, this app is an extra tile on your Home menu and there’s no way to merge these games with existing N64 releases, but it is what it is. On a more positive note, this means that Nintendo 64 titles with more mature themes could one day also make their way to the Expansion Pack service (Come on, Conker’s bad fur day).
Initial “mature” application first launched on Switch in Japan last Novembernext to the release Golden Eyes 007 And Gemini Jet Force. Notably, these games have avoided being added to Nintendo’s mature version of the app in the West.
To download this second Switch Online N64 app, you’ll need to go to the Switch eShop, navigate to the NSO section, and you’ll see it next to the existing app. Of course, you’ll also need access to the Expansion Pack subscription tier to play these games on your Switch.
