Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream is coming to Switch this October
After being revealed in Partner Exhibition February 2024Bandai Namco announced today that SWORD ART ONLINE Broken Dreams will go to On October 4.
The new trailer (above) tells you everything you need to know about the story of Fractured Daydream. It looks like your standard multiverse story. There’s been a breach in time and space. Characters from across the Sword Art Online anime are brought together in the same version of Alfheim Online. There are unexpected alliances and rivalries as you try to piece together the timeline—Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey.
As expected, this new story trailer doesn’t show much gameplay (though we do get a glimpse of it). announcement trailer For those curious, Fractured Daydream is a multiplayer-focused adventure where you join a team of up to 20 players to defeat enemies and set the timeline back on track. If you like hack and slash, this looks like the one for you, with cross-play enabled so you can team up with SAO fans around the world.
Aside from all the hacking and slashing, the big draw of Fractured Daydream will likely be the interactions between the various Sword Art Online characters. The game may be strong enough to appeal to those who have never seen the anime before, but we’re betting the bigger appeal will come to those well-versed in their Alfheim lore.
Of course, Fractured Daydream comes in Standard, Digital Deluxe, or Digital Premium editions. The latter two include character packs, DLC worlds, and cosmetic items.
The history of Sword Art Online games on Switch has been, uhh, a bit bumpy. While we found Empty performance to be a pretty solid JRPG, both The Fatal Bullet And Lycoris Alicization Only for hardcore fans of the series. Hopefully Fractured Daydream can go the former route, right?
