SZA was honored at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
On Thursday (June 13), the ‘Snooze’ singer was honored with the Hal David Starlight Award at the 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony. The event was held at the Marquis Hotel in New York.
Based on EVERYBODYThe Grammy-winning singer declared in her acceptance speech that the honor has affirmed every aspect of her career.
“I’m so grateful. Thank you for seeing me. I swear, I’ll say, ‘Oh I wrote this and I wrote that. And people will say, ‘Okay,’ especially if you’re a woman, especially if you’re a Black woman. So to win this… It just means the world.”
The outlet also reported that after her speech, SZA performed an acoustic version of her hit song, ‘Snooze’. The event featured performances and presentations from other stars, including Miss Elliott, Carrie Underwood, Keith MunicipalityAnd Jason Isbell.
SZA joins past recipients of the esteemed Hal David Starlight Award, such as Lil Nas X, Taylor Swift, Malon postand Ed Sheeran.
The ‘Broken Clocks’ musician will have the chance to expand her trophy collection at the 2024 BET Awards on June 30, where she is nominated five times, including for her performance on by Drake ‘Dad is rich.’
