The Best Posture Correcting Gear and Gear We Tried (2024)

After seeing too many photos of myself with horrible hunched posture—my shoulders completely hunched, my stomach somehow pushed forward while my hips were pushed back—I wondered why anyone would voluntarily talk to me in public. Good posture just doesn’t come naturally to me, so I decided to do something about it.

These are the best posture correctors we’ve tried. None of these options will solve your problem overnight, and while they may be uncomfortable at first, they shouldn’t be painful. Start by using them for 10 to 20 minutes a day and increase the time as you go (and listen to the product’s instructions). If you have severe back pain, a hump, or scoliosis, talk to your doctor before trying any posture corrector.

Our research and testing

I’ve been experimenting with posture-correcting tools since 2020, including gadgets and gadgets that vibrate when you hunch, full-body belts with lumbar support, and shoulder straps. I’ve used each product every day for at least two weeks, following the instructions closely—usually you should start with just 10 minutes a day.

Having tested gadgets that remind you to sit up straight, as well as braces that force the wearer into correct posture, I think it’s clear that the former is the better option. You don’t want to make things worse by relying on something that actually weakens your muscles instead of learning new habits. That’s not to say braces are never an option, and we have some more information below on how to use them. But consider trying the Upright Go first, and if you work at a desk, get an ergonomic setup.
