The Sand Land Tank 104 model kit looks really great without much effort
Sometimes you may buy a model kit and realize it will be a big investment. You will need to choose paint. Maybe glue is needed. The magnifying glass is the same, if the characters need to be drawn, and is extremely small. The Sand The Tank 104 model kit from Bandai Namco’s Bandai Spirits line happens to fall in that sweet spot where it really isn’t too difficult to build and looks great out of the box, but could still look better more if you also choose to paint the teenage characters of Beelzebub, Thief and Lao.
So to start, Sand The Tank 104 model kit is one of the more expensive kits because of its higher retail price $69. However, due to its nature, you can buy it outright and not invest in anything else like glue or paint unless you really want to. I recommend having a set of tools ready, e.g $7.99 BXQINLENX one with pliers, tweezers and files, just because there are small patches that benefit from tweezers and some small parts come out of the pliers paths easily. However, you don’t need glue and as you’ll see in the photos from my design, it looks fine without any paint. However, if you also want to use paint, the instructions provide suggestions at the bottom of each page for effects, and Bandai Namco notes the colors you’ll need.
Now, since this is a Bandai Spirits set, there are some great details that come with it. All plastic is colored so if you don’t paint it it’s fine. Some types of sprouts come in multiple colors, like type A here. Plus, at each step, the instructions tell you exactly which sprouts you need to have on hand. I also noticed that in some cases it looked like they were packaged together as well, which was especially appreciated during assembly. Both stickers and water slide decals are present to add some flair, e.g Sand Tank with 104 eyes and numbers for the door. However, I really like the quality and feel of the Sand Apply logo to the sole. It makes it more pop. (Note when building, I recommend using tweezers for that part to ensure proper placement in the sign.)
As for the rest of the build, I feel like Sand The Tank 104 model kit is a perfect example of creating a final product that looks more complex than the actual construction. The tank’s treads are made up of seven tread parts placed in a specific order, so it makes the hard plastic pieces look much more flexible. The tank’s body is subdivided based on the rotating turret on top, the tracked base, the interior cockpit with thumbnails of Beelzebub, Thief, Laos, and the tank’s exterior walls. It makes everything more manageable and the next steps to put everything together easier. Honestly, the only part that was really “difficult” for me involved pressing some of the controls near Beelzebub. That’s just because they are very delicate and I don’t want to press too hard to “squeeze” them into place.
I really wish that maybe there had been some more water slide stickers or decals for Beelzebub, Thief and Javelin in Sand Tank model kit 104 Some of their facial features are extremely small. Even if I bought paints or pens to capture expressions accurately, I don’t think my hand would be steady enough to accurately represent their features. I’m willing to pay $5 more for a piece of paper. Or conversely, set the price of the set $10-$15 higher to only include a single Beelzebub with the finished faceplate in the box.
As you can see from my live photos, I chose to depict the as-is Sand Tank model kit 104 I am satisfied with it! It looks fantastic and the moveable turret, cannon door and side doors are great touches. Now that I’m done taking pictures, I want to remove Beelzebub, Thief, and Lao, because it feels like those are really just one Good added when painting. Still, it’s a fun kit that’s easy to build in under two hours and looks great when out of use.
The Sand Tank model set 104 is now available worldwide. Cartoons are showing Disney+. Viz Media handles manga outside of Japan. The game is on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.
