The Sanrio Gachapon toy looks like it’s going to be late
A new line of Sanrio gachapon toys features mascots running late while holding bread in their mouths. These items will be available in early December 2024 and will cost you 300 JPY ($2) per spin. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]
There are four variants to collect: Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin and My Melody. They are all doing it Classic anime trope about a student coming to school late while holding a slice of bread in his mouth for breakfast. Hello Kitty and My Melody seem to be really worried about being late for school. On the other hand, Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin look the same as usual. They don’t seem to care.
Takara Tomy is a regular collaborator of Sanrio in the field of toy production. For Celebrating 50 years of Hello Kittyit has opened up pre-orders for a special anniversary edition of Licca-chan, Japan’s Barbie. It also produced toys for McDonald’s Happy Meals line in 2015 April 2024. Even more recently, in November 2024it released gachapon toys featuring mascots hugging and cuddling small stuffed animal versions of themselves.
The “late running” series of Sanrio mascots will soon appear in gachapon machines in Japan in the near future.
