The ‘Switch Pro’ Dongle is returning with a new ‘RGB Collection’
A few years ago we took a look mClassic dongle from Marseille Inc.essentially promises to enhance the visual quality on your Switch and turn it into a so-called ‘Switch Pro’.
Well, the company is now back with the new mClassic RGB strips, but the problem is that based on the initial press release, we don’t really know what these actually do. There’s a red ‘Original’ variant, presumably the mClassic that’s already on the market, a blue ‘Switch’ variant and a green ‘Retro’ variant.
Are they just the same device but different colors..? Who knows? We have reached out to Marseille for clarification and will update this article when we know more. However, we are inclined to believe that the three options will offer different experiences. Marseille claims that the new range will bring “more options, more modes and more clarity” to the game, so it makes sense why these offer more than just The dongles come in different colors.
As for the mClassic itself, we could definitely notice a slight improvement when using it, but the difference in image quality for Switch games was very small and only really noticeable when using it. Pause the game and toggle effects on and off. This is also quite a significant investment to achieve results that, in our opinion, are probably not worth the money. Prices have dropped slightly on sites like Amazon, but with the cost still at $100/£100, it’s not cheap.
Truth be told, with the Switch’s successor on the horizon, we’re trying to imagine a scenario in which the mClassic would prove especially useful, especially if backward compatibility on ‘Switch 2’ will provide minor improvements to your current library. However, as soon as we learn more about these, we will let you know.
