The Tamagotchi Connection virtual pet returns for its 20th anniversary
Bandai announced that they will bring back the virtual pet Tamagotchi Connection, launched in March 2004 in Japan, in July 2024. Pre-orders are now open Amazon for a $29.99 toy.
Again, Tamagotchi Connection is notable for being the first to feature a “multiplayer” element. People can use its infrared port to communicate with other people’s Tamagotchi. Their two characters can exchange gifts, play games, or fall in love which results in each player getting a new child through their eggs. That version was also the first to feature training functionality that expanded beyond the usual discipline options of previous models.
Even though there’s a multiplayer element, someone doesn’t need to find someone else to play with. This model still allows someone to find a mate for their virtual pet and get a new baby character.
This isn’t the only Tamagotchi virtual pet coming in July 2024. There will be two Hello Kitty variants. One of them will be the new Hello Kitty Tamagotchi Nano model. The other will be the Hello Kitty Tamagotchi Uni which can be worn in the same fashion as a smartwatch.
The 20th anniversary re-release of Tamagotchi Connection will take place in July 2024 outside of Japan.
