The tower fell as the historic San Francisco Cathedral was destroyed by fire

Video captures the dramatic moment a historic church in Iquique, Chile, was destroyed by fire.

Local media reported that 12 firefighting units attended the fire at the San Francisco Church on Friday but were unable to save the mainly wooden structure.

It was the first Catholic church built in the country, according to the World Monuments Fund, and was declared a national monument in 1994.

Area officials said there were no deaths and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
