The World of Hyatt credit card is great for family travelers
In time Chasing 24/5Once-in-a-lifetime bonuses, similar “card family” restrictions and more, it can be difficult for families to decide on their next travel credit card.
But there’s one tag that has remained near the top of the list since its introduction in 2018: tags Hyatt World Credit Card.
Families can appreciate Hyatt properties (especially kid-friendly resorts), award rankings, and the ability to increase their World of Hyatt account balance by transfer points from Chase the Ultimate Rewards card.
Here are the reasons why Hyatt World Credit Card is great for family travelers.
Get five free night certificates
The World of Hyatt card is currently offering five Class 1-4 free night award certificates after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening.
Previously, this card offered World of Hyatt bonus points as a welcome bonus, TPG currently valued at 1.7 cents per dollar.
Receive two additional awards nights, plus elite status
In addition to the five bonus nights, the World of Hyatt Credit Card also offers Category 1-4 awards each year you renew the card. Plus, you can earn a second bonus night from April 1 with $15,000 spent on the card during one year of card membership.
With the average spending just $1,250 on the card each month to reach that total annual spend, it’s a pretty fair deal to nab the second awards night.
The card also offers automatic Explorer status, which isn’t really all that exciting (other than potentially being suitable for M Life). But cards that make it easier to reach higher elite status levels are more valuable.

The top Hyatt Globalist status requires 60 qualifying nights in a calendar year, but you can reduce that number pretty quickly if you’re a heavy user of the World of Hyatt card.
You can aim to spend $15,000 on the card each year for additional Category 1-4 rewards. That spend alone will give you a total of 11 qualifying nights for Hyatt status, leaving just 49 nights to go for Global status.
For those unfamiliar, World of Hyatt Globalist status unlocks perks for traveling families, including:
- Free vacation
- Club lounge access
- Free vac kit upgrades available
- Kit upgrade certificate has been confirmed
- Includes free breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children at locations without a club room
- Late check-out 4pm and free parking upon prize redemption
It’s fair to say that Hyatt Globalist status is one of the hotel’s most elite statuses for families.
Earn up to 9 points per dollar
Ultimately, the World of Hyatt Credit Card is the best card for Hyatt expenses. It offers 4 points per dollar spent on stays and experiences at Hyatt, including at participating restaurants and spas in Hyatt hotels. That’s in addition to the up to 5 base points per dollar that World of Hyatt members can earn with this card.
It’s also good for other expenses, such as gym memberships, where the card rewards 2 Hyatt points for every dollar charged. In addition to gyms and fitness clubs, you’ll also earn 2 points per dollar on local travel and transportation, including ride-hailing services.
Who can apply for a World of Hyatt credit card?
If you want the World of Hyatt Credit Card, be sure to read the fine print. In addition to the expiration date under May 24, the terms on the World of Hyatt Credit Card state that this product is not offered to existing cardholders of any Hyatt Credit Card; it is also not available to previous cardholders of any Hyatt Credit Card who received a new card member bonus within the past 24 months.
This means you cannot have an open Hyatt credit card or have received a Hyatt card bonus in the past two years. If you have an old Hyatt credit card and don’t want to go through the process of closing the card and applying for a new one, talk to Chase about upgrading your current Hyatt card to this card. That will allow you to keep your account number and account history.
However, you won’t be able to earn cardholder rewards simply by upgrading from your old Hyatt card to this card. There are occasional Hyatt upgrade offers for targeted customers, but they’re usually around 5,000 points — a far cry from five free nights.
Bottom line
Families have a great opportunity to make the most of the World of Hyatt Credit Card. It can increase their earnings on select categories, such as Hyatt stays and gym memberships. Most importantly, it will make it easier to reclaim the Hyatt Globalist designation as they begin working towards achieving those travel goals.
