Trump Allies Want Him to Act Normal for Once, Stop Associating with Crazies: Report

Some Donald TrumpHis closest allies would reportedly love it if he could tone down the crazy conspiracy theories, anti-Semitic attacks, misogynistic outbursts, and other crazy statements that regularly come out of his mouth. That’s a tall order, since crazy conspiracy theories, anti-Semitic attacks, misogynistic outbursts, and other crazy statements have long made up about 98 percent of what he says. Asking him to tone it down would be like asking Jeffrey Dahmer to stop eating human flesh. But they’re trying!

Politics report that earlier this month, major GOP donor Steve Wynn, Wynn, a longtime friend of the former president, told Trump that his recent talking points — including the completely false accusation that Haitian immigrants were eating cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio — were deeply unhelpful and that Trump would be better off focusing on actual policy issues, according to people familiar with the conversation. Wynn’s views were said to be shared by more than a dozen Trump allies, who, according to Politico, “described the former president as coming to a crossroads — faced with the choice of continuing the missteps that have plagued his campaign for weeks or adopting a more measured approach aimed at appealing to a small group of undecided voters who could influence the outcome of the election.” (In a text message to the outlet, Wynn said that his description of the conversation with Trump was “inaccurate,” though he did not respond to requests for additional comment.)

Of course, ridiculous conspiracy theories involving immigrants kidnapping and eating people’s cats and dogs aren’t the only offensive, unfocused comments Trump has made recently. In response Taylor Swift‘S confirmation belong to Kamala Harris, He joined Truth Social and wrote“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”—sounds more like a hormonal teenager than someone who wants to be the leader of the free world. He has also taken a lot of criticism for are bothering with far-right activists Laura Loomer—who recently wrote on X that a win for Harris, who is of part Indian descent, would make the White House smell of “curry” and that speeches at the White House would be “facilitated by a switchboard.” (Not helping matters: Trump’s decision to include Loomer in his entourage during the events of 9/11, despite her having previously claimed that the terrorist attacks were an “inside job.”) And, never one to miss an opportunity to criticize Jews, the former president declared last week—at an event on the fight against anti-Semitism—that if he loses in November, Jews will be held responsible.

“Trump is at his strongest when he talks about what people care about most: the economy, immigration, crime, trade, the core Trump messages,” said Republican strategist David Urban “When he loses focus and goes off in different directions, it’s less helpful,” Harris told Politico. “Every day we don’t talk about those issues, we leave Harris untouched.”
