Two Jaleco Famicom Classics Are Now on Switch
We love when classic NES/Famicom games seem to appear on the Switch eShop without prior warning (though we happened to miss the warning for this game – thanks, Time extension). This time, two classic Jaleco games are available on the hybrid console provided by publisher City Connection: Pinball Mission And Yokai ClubBoth are developed by Tose.
For those who don’t know, Jaleco was a force to be reckoned with during the Famicom era, releasing dozens of console and arcade titles since 1982. The company eventually filed for bankruptcy in 2014, and its assets were then transferred to City Connection. And now here we are!
The first title, Pinball Quest, is a fun game that combines pinball gameplay with RPG mechanics. There are six levels in ‘RPG Mode’ and this new release adds modern features like rewind, achievements, subtitles and quick saves. You can also access a library feature to view scanned manuals and more.
Second, Yokai Club, is somewhat similar to Castle in the sense that you explore a 2D side-scrolling environment and kill creepy, gothic-style ghosts and ghouls. Again, this game boasts the same modern features as Pinball Quest, which should make the old-school challenge a little more tolerable.
To be honest, we don’t really like the user interface (UI) with some of the screenshots of these titles, but it seems like you can customize the experience and remove some of the distractions.
Both titles are now available to download at a slightly reduced price of $7.19 / £6.47 each.
