United Million Miler Status: Your Guide to Getting Lifetime Benefits

Million Milers received PlusPoints for upgrades based on their lifetime Premier status level. Therefore, Million Milers with Premier Platinum status will receive 40 PlusPoints every January, while those with Premier 1K status will receive 280 PlusPoints every January.
But perhaps the best part of the United Million Miller program is the ability to share your current status with your spouse, significant other or individual residing at your home address. For example, if you are a Millionaire with lifetime Premier Platinum status but currently hold Premier 1K status, you can nominate a qualifying companion who also holds Premier 1K status.
United members with 1 million lifetime miles or more can choose a travel companion or become the travel companion of another Million Miler. However, you can change or remove your United Million Miler companion (or decide to be selected as another Million Miler companion) each year from September 1 to November 30.
How long does it take to achieve United Million Miler status?
Since United only credits lifetime miles on paid flights operated by United or United Express, earning 1 million lifetime miles (let alone 4 million) isn’t easy. If you earn 100,000 lifetime United miles each year, it will take you a decade to earn 1 million lifetime miles.
If you fully qualify for lifetime United status on one-way flights from San Francisco to Newark, here’s what you need to do to secure each level of Million Miler status:

- Lifetime Premier 1K: 1,170 flights (about 6,450 flight hours)
