US West Coast engulfed in deadly heat wave
A record-breaking heatwave has sparked massive wildfires across western US states and is expected to continue into next week.
About 130 million people were under heat warnings or advisories as of Saturday. Nearly 57 million people remain under heat warnings, as at least one child has died in heat-related cases in Arizona.
Meteorologists warn that warm nights will put people at risk of heat stress, with temperatures expected to reach 128F (53C) in Death Valley on Monday.
While it’s difficult to link individual heat waves to climate change, scientists say they are becoming more common. and fierce for it.
