Here’s why Pete Arredondo & Adrian Gonzales indicted
Earlier this year, the Department of Justice released a 600-page report on the Robb Elementary School mass shooting that occurred on May 24, 2022. The report concluded that “poor coordination, training, and implementation” of active shooter protocols among Uvalde school officers led to their failed response, according to the source.
Additionally, the report asserts that rather than “engage” with the active shooter, officers “withdrew” after his first gunshot. The officers allegedly failed to “advance…and continually eliminate the threat.”
NBC News noted that the gunman, Salvador Ramos, 18, “was locked in a classroom with 33 students and 3 teachers” at the time.
Ultimately, the report asserts, it took police at least 70 minutes to confront and kill Ramos. Furthermore, the police’s “failed” response left 19 children and two teachers dead.
In addition, there were reports of seventeen other people injured.
Based on NBC NewsArredondo was fired by the Uvalde school board in 2023.
