Valorant welcomes new Starter – Tejo – PlayStation.Blog
valid announced that the latest starter, Tejo – a well-dressed action man – has officially joined the team of Agents. Hailing from Colombia, Tejo is sure to change the gameplay with his unique skill set that helps destroy enemies using a top-down approach. Tejo asks you to analyze the situation mid-round and use abilities to help clear the way for your team strategically. Based on the enemy’s playstyle, where are they likely to be? Could you use their position to your advantage and put them in a vulnerable position?
“We had an opportunity to play a game where we wanted to have an Initiator that thought about the map a little differently – looking from the top down instead of picking corners one at a time. We wanted to try some more possibilities with outputs like flushing, which was really fun to create these power windows,” said Ryan “Rycou” Cousart, Tejo’s game designer. .
The initiator needs to do everything correctly. We’ve all been there – looking up Agent tutorials on YouTube, heading to a custom to test the formation, flipping through walls to see if it lands correctly. Tejo gives Initiator players something different by being able to precisely place gadgets using the map in more precisely targeted areas, rather than relying on pixel-perfect lines which some utilities with larger footprints may rely on. This allows you to do more precisely what you want to do, but at the cost of having a smaller range of impact.
To effectively use his precision gadget, Tejo needs some information — and like other Initiators, he’s very good at gathering it himself. “Because Tejo can provide information about enemy locations, it allows him to be a lot more consistent with the value he can bring,” said John Goscicki, Special Agents team leader. “Tejo is one of the few Initiators that doesn’t have a flash so he’ll be more effective with another Initiator like Breach or KAY/O where you can do these really fast and explosive shots .”
The idea of this Agent is the Initiator, the leader of a team with a strong sense of the game, coupled with the perception of someone experienced on the battlefield and in life.
“The phrase we use a lot is just ‘doer’. We’ve all seen movies, read books where you just see a guy in a button-down shirt, rushing in and killing people,” Goscicki noted. “He was a solid professional – his shirt was unbuttoned and he was ready for action. He’s not like Chamber, where every detail of his outfit is meant to reinforce the idea of getting the perfect shot. Tejo is going to run in there through all the explosions and everything has to be loose and wavy and comfortable.”
Everyone can play Tejo, but those with a sense of strategic gaming can make him truly shine. Take on the challenge and learn how to use him to your advantage over others. If the new Agents aren’t exciting enough, check out the new PlayStation Plus products that include various in-game items, such as the Snowball Gun Buddy, Celestial Player Card, Sentinels of Light Spray, Sovereign Spray, and Radianite Points.
As Tejo said, “We can stand around all day talking about killing them… or we can just do it.” Valorant is currently free to play on PS5.
