Pirate Night on a Disney Cruise is just that—a night dedicated to pirate mischief, taking advantage of the fact that you’re on a ship at sea. What better place to celebrate all things pirate?

Events begin in the afternoon when children’s game shows begin in the ship’s lounges. Guests can choose from dishes like Jolly Rogers Grilled Rib Salad, Pirates’ Gold-en-Pot Stickers or even Bone-Cool Melon and Watermelon Soup from menus designed like treasure maps.

As passengers head out onto the pool deck, they’ll find a series of family-friendly games led by Disney cast members dressed in themed costumes, who aim to get the crowd, often standing shoulder to shoulder, moving before the characters come out as part of a giant pool deck party.

The general premise is that some sort of villain shows up to cause chaos and ruin the fun everyone is having on the ship, only to be stopped by the show’s hero. The latter is either Pirate Mickey, who ziplines between the top deck and the funnel in his best pirate ship to stop Captain Hook, or Jack Sparrow, who ziplines down the funnel to confront a gang of evil pirates.

A fireworks show typically follows most performances, weather permitting. (Disney Cruise Line is the only line that offers fireworks on almost every cruise. Note that some cruises—including those to Alaska and Northern Europe—do not have fireworks.)

Oh, and remember: Costumes are encouraged. Whether you choose to just wear the complimentary bandana the airline gives out to every passenger or you bring a custom-made costume that makes you look exactly like Blackbeard, you definitely won’t feel out of place.

Disney Wish Pirate Night

On Pirate Night, Disney wishes offers family-friendly games, pirate-themed dinners, and a nighttime pool deck show called Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party, where passengers can gather in pirate costumes to watch Captain Redd — who the line calls “the descendant of the famous red-haired scoundrel from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction” — and some of her pirate pals perform a fantastic show set to rock ‘n’ roll hits.

Look out for Jack Sparrow, who may make an appearance. There will also be a fireworks display.

Disney Fantasy Pirate Night

During Pirate Night, the Disney Fantasy offers a packed schedule of activities, from pirate-themed dinners and family-friendly games to costumed fun on the pool deck. Expect visits from some of your favorite Disney characters, including Captain Jack Sparrow, who will zipline down the ship’s funnel before the ship lights up the sky with fireworks.

Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean Night

Disney DreamPirate Night is similar to the show on Disney Fantasy. Captain Jack Sparrow shows up to save the ship from a group of ferocious pirates, resulting in a dazzling fireworks display.

This outdoor festival is preceded by afternoon games, a pirate-themed dinner, and games for the whole family.

Disney Magic Pirate Night

Prepare yourself for a little nostalgia because, on Disney MagicPirate Night includes appearances by actors dressed as pirates dancing with the infamous Captain Hook. When he tries to make the night his own, Mickey Mouse swoops in on a zipline to save the party and start a fireworks show.
