Siliconera Speaks Out: The Most Underrated Cozy Game and Farming Simulator

Set aside (deserving) fan favorites like Stardew Valley, Animal passAnd A Tale of Seasons: Friends of Mineral TownMore people need testing Town trio And harvest. Town trio For me this is the best installment in the series, with diverse landscapes to explore, a diverse economy, and lots of great characters.

Meanwhile, harvest doesn’t get nearly the attention it deserves. It really feels like The ultimate fantasy-meet-Stories of the seasons in all the right ways. Things are rough, especially on the Switch in terms of performance, but the combination of story, dungeon exploration, job classes, and farming could easily pave the way for a great sequel.

Finally, my final pick for this category is a much newer entry. Ova Magica is an indie game that made a big impression on me when it was released earlier this year. It definitely wears its inspiration on its sleeve, but I appreciate that. The charm of sim-meets agriculture-Pokemon works surprisingly well. Every aspect of the game, from the farming and romance to the turn-based battles, is great. It’s much better than other similar attempts to combine these genres in the past. It’s a shame it’s currently in early access. The content is a bit too light at this time. — Cody

I wasn’t immediately attracted by Mistria Fieldsbut after playing it, I was really impressed by how quickly and discreetly it built the townspeople’s personalities. I’m also second harvest. That story didn’t quite turn out as I expected but I loved it and would love to see more iterations of its ideas. — Elliot
