Siliconera Speaks Out: The Most Underrated Game of 2024

Arco is absolutely amazing. This is an engaging strategy game with a unique combat system and gameplay. Plus the places we take, the people we meet and the stories it tells all feel unique. I love seeing how it all comes together in the end. Also, it looks very different but very beautiful. — Jenni

It’s not the most revolutionary game in the world but I still want to fight for it Sandy soil. It has charming Toriyama styling, fun vehicle customization, and it’s just a cozy, fun time along the way. Plus, I like the stealth takedown animation which is just the prince making scary faces at some soldiers so they faint. — Elliot

I have found Islands of sea and sky really awesome and I need more people to try it. This is a sokoban style puzzle game with open world exploration and a progression system borrowed from Zelda and Metroidvania. I usually have a hard time getting through most puzzle games, even if I enjoy them, but with Islands of sea and sky I can’t get enough of it. It helps that the pixel art graphics have a cozy SNES or Game Boy Color feel and the music is enjoyable. Seriously, give it a try! — Daniel

There are quite a few options this year for the most underrated game of 2024. My overall pick has to be Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club. This is a gorgeous visual novel that isn’t too difficult and has a deep mystery. Its ending is a bit strange, but if you stick with it, it will become a masterpiece ending that everyone should check out. The other option I have to point out is Ova Magica. It has some early access quirks, but the game is a great mix of farming sim and Pokemon together in a neat, colorful way. I just wish there was more content. — Cody
