WhatsApp reveals new features: Double tap reactions, selfie stickers, shareable sticker packs and more
WhatsApp has rolled out an update with new features to improve user experience. The update allows users to create custom stickers directly using their phone’s camera, includes new camera effects for selfies, and introduces faster message reactions.
New camera effects and selfie stickers
In recent times blog postWhatsApp explains that these new features are aimed at making the app more interesting and user-friendly. The update includes 30 new backgrounds, filters, and effects for users to apply when taking photos or recording videos during chats. These additions provide more options to personalize messages and enhance visual content.

The Selfie Sticker feature allows users to turn their selfies into stickers by tapping the “create sticker” icon and using the camera. The feature is currently available for Android users and an iOS version is expected soon. WhatsApp has also simplified sharing sticker packs. Users can now easily recommend and share their favorite sticker packs in chat, simplifying the sticker discovery and sending process.
WhatsApp: Respond to messages faster
Another big change is the addition of faster message responses. WhatsApp now allows users to double-tap on messages to react immediately, while also making it easier to access frequently used reactions. This speeds up the process of expressing emotions without having to type out a response.

The company emphasizes that these new features are part of an ongoing effort to improve the app while maintaining private and secure messaging for users around the world. The update is being rolled out gradually and users are encouraged to update their apps to access these features.

New features to fight misinformation
In other developments, WhatsApp is testing a reverse image search feature to help fight misinformation. Initially available on Android beta and currently being tested on WhatsApp Web Beta, this feature allows users to verify images shared with them using Google’s reverse image search. This makes it easier to identify edited or edited images without having to download them.
Additionally, WhatsApp is testing replacing the Community tab with a new ‘AI’ tab where users can create custom AI chatbots. Meta is also working on a new Meta AI widget that will provide easy access to its ChatGPT-like synthetic AI service.
