Which game will be the Switch 2’s ‘Skyrim moment’?
There were a few moments in Nintendo’s pre-launch Switch marketing campaign that left us a little confused: the hybrid form factor, our first look at the Breath of the Wildlike the guy who goes “walking the dog” but spends the whole time sitting on the bench.
The revelation that Skyrim will come to iddy biddy dashboard is another one. By this point, that is a sure sign that this is not only Nintendo’s kid-friendly event, but a big, grown-up machine for those who want to play big, grown-up games for six-year-olds. It’s also a sign of the Switch’s power, a wave of Nintendo’s finger as if to say “You think this is just one Thinking of playing side-scrolling Mario levels? Think again”.
With ‘Switch 2’ rumours popping up more and more frequently, we’re looking at potential games Nintendo could use to hit the mark again, especially since many big games on other consoles look like they’ll never make it to the Switch at the moment.
We have tried to be most of reality here. Rumors suggest that the Switch successor could assemble Approximate Power of PS4 / Xbox One — last-gen, yes, but a huge step up from what the Switch can currently achieve — so our picks often come from this period.
We also considered Skyrim’s other mature gamer messaging and made choices to spice up what could have been a sickly sweet debut lineup (despite how dark the final lineup was). Twilight Princess HD could be the gate).
That said, we’ve bent both of these rules a few times to get some decent ‘flying pig’ options—hey, we can dream!
