Witch Hat Atelier has the potential to become the next hit anime by 2025
Most years, an unexpected hit anime series appears (or so it seems) and takes the internet and anime community by storm. People are cosplaying their characters, reading the comics, and discussing each week’s episodes. Looking ahead to 2025, if there’s any new anime that’s likely to make a big splash, it should be Witch hat workshop.
The premise of this particular series is familiar and simple. Coco is a girl who grew up wanting nothing more than to become a witch. Magic is a huge part of her world’s society and she wants to be one of the exclusive witches who can use it. However, if you are not born with magic, you cannot become a witch. Sadly, that was the case with Coco.
That is until a certain witch comes to her small town. As you might expect, things get complicated, revelations are discovered and Coco finds her life turned upside down. In the process, she is able to embark on a journey that gives her the opportunity to make her dreams come true and become a witch.
I won’t go too deep into the story or plot to avoid spoilers. But just know that not everything in the world and story is the same. And here are all the first chapters of the first volume that I read recently in preparation for the upcoming anime adaptation in 2025. I have no doubt that this will be one of the biggest new anime 2025.
For one, Witch hat workshop there was classic zero for hero vibes going on. This is a common story mechanic that we see in many famous anime series such as Naruto, My Hero Academyand more But it goes beyond this, as the series continues to surprise with each chapter.
There are many legends and rich history in the world. Luckily, manga creator Kamome Shirahama recognizes this and gives the series the appropriate attention and detail it deserves. Even better, the characters were also instant favorites of mine. Coco herself is the classic big-eyed hero with brilliant hopes and dreams. She is simultaneously funny and someone you can cheer for. But at the same time, she is also much smarter than other similar anime protagonists.
Then there was her teacher in Qifrey. This guy doesn’t just look like Gojo Jujutsu Kaisenbut he also acts a little like him. He is a somewhat unusual and goofy guy with a likeable personality. I see a lot of cosplay potential for this series. Not to mention, I imagine Qifrey himself will have some die-hard fans in the future. But it doesn’t stop with them, as the supporting cast is also quite excellent from the beginning.
However, above all, the most significant potential of Witch hat workshop anime is visual. This manga has some of the most beautiful artwork I’ve seen in a long time. Shirahama has a high level of detail rarely seen in rushed manga. Every spell, enchantment, and slot is full of arcane features. It makes the world come alive even with black and white pages.
If animation studio Bug Films can even come close to adapting this unique art style well, then Witch hat workshop anime will be one of the most beautiful anime of 2025. Its previous work, Zom100looks spectacular with its striking colors. I imagine it will be a similar situation here. If done right, Witch hat workshop is the anime to watch in 2025. Prepare to see tons of cosplay, reaction videos, merchandise, and trending posts about it in the very near future.
