Woman sues spa after suffering first-degree burns
A woman named Amy Romero is said to be suing New You Laser NYC after a visit that reportedly left her with first-degree burns to her body.

Here’s What Allegedly Happened to Woman at New You Laser NYC
According to TMZRomero alleges that her trip to New York for “laser hair removal” in February 2023 left her with burns to her armpits and vagina.
According to the lawsuit, Romero explained that during the procedure, she allegedly “felt a burning sensation that she had never felt before.” In response, the woman allegedly complained to her technician. However, they allegedly did not listen to the woman.
Instead, the technician allegedly reassured her that the machine she was using was “set to a normal temperature.” Additionally, the technician allegedly asked Romero if the pain she was feeling was related to her menstrual cycle.
According to the source, Romero alleges that the technician failed to recheck or change the temperature on the machine. Additionally, Romero allegedly noted that the laser appeared “brighter and more yellow than usual.” However, the technician continued to ignore her concerns.
To make matters worse, Romero complained that her armpit was “hurting from the laser.” Instead of stopping the treatment there, the technician started treating Romero’s vagina.
The woman reportedly felt a “burning sensation” at the time. Romero eventually stopped the procedure.

According to TMZThe technician reportedly gave Romero “hydrocortisone cream to help with the pain.” However, her apparent discomfort only worsened.
After the procedure, Romero reportedly noticed “redness in her pubic area, along with dark gray circles forming over her vagina and under her arms.”
According to the source, Romero said her skin “looked like it was about to peel off.” However, she reportedly had to wait 15 minutes before a technician arrived with ointment and ice packs, but these did nothing to ease the pain.
The woman eventually took an Uber to the hospital and was diagnosed with “first-degree burns to her armpits and vagina,” according to TMZRomero was told that her “private area would never fully recover” from the painful ordeal.
Furthermore, the “bizarre” scars on her armpits are said to have prevented her from continuing her dancing career.
Each TMZThe woman is suing New You Laser for $1.5 million. The news outlet added that they have contacted the company. However, they reportedly had “no comment.”

More specifically, the DOH notes that people who have had botox injections or vampire facials should get tested.
