Since its launch PlayStation Tournament on PS5, we continue to bring together our community of competitive gamers and esports fans on PS5 to test their skills and compete on a regional and global level. In the spirit of celebrating our community, we’re excited to announce PlayStation Tournament: XP, a new live studio event that invites top competitive gamers globally on PS5 to participate in a live competition unique group.


Announcing PlayStation Tournament: XP, a new live studio event and competition for the global PS5 community

On January 18, 2025, the first-ever PlayStation Tournament: XP will be held live in London. Qualified players from around the world and the PS5 competitive gaming community will represent Triangle, Circle, Cross and Square teams to earn points in the competition and compete for the championship title. competition, in addition to winning exclusive prizes.

Through online qualifiers via PlayStation Tournament on PS5, players will have the chance to compete to win a trip to London, while fans at home will be able to tune in to the live stream, watching all the both matches and win prizes.

How to qualify for PlayStation Tournament: XP

To compete for the chance to compete in London, play any PlayStation Tournament: XP Open Qualifier on PS5. Open qualifiers begin today for Tekken 8 and EA Sports FC 25. Open qualifiers for Fortnite will begin on December 6 and Astro Bot will begin on December 13, 2024. Watch This for full details on the rules and times for each qualifying round.

Players who win the Open Qualifiers will be invited to the online Regional Closed Finals. After winning the Closed Final, players will win a spot into the live PlayStation Tournament: XP event and a ticket to London, including flights and accommodation.

Prepare for the PlayStation: XP Tournament in London on January 18, 2025

Once qualified players arrive in London, they will be placed into one of four teams (Triangle, Circle, Cross and Square) and compete in some exciting live broadcast matches to earn points (referred to as “XP”) for their team.

Each team will have a Captain and Expert, a group of community favorites who specialize in one of four featured titles. These Captains and Professionals will represent, cheer on and coach their teams throughout the tournament. We’ll be announcing the full list of Captains and Specialists in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

After four rounds of competition and surprise mini-games, the top two teams will compete to become the first PlayStation: XP Tournament Champions.

Esports fans can tune in to the PlayStation Tournament: XP livestream on January 18 to cheer on a team and watch the event. On the PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels, fans can watch matches in real time, from intense 1v1 duels to interviews with the Captains. To track each group’s progress, each group’s Expert will convey their perspective, giving you greater insight into the action. Viewers can even earn points for your team and win prizes through polls in the chat.
