Atari Reveals Final Story Trailer for Upcoming ‘Metroidvania’ Yars increaseDeveloped by WayForward Technologies.

Launching on September 10Yars Rising combines traditional Metroidvania gameplay with a classic style Yars’s Revenge– hacker-inspired mini-game in which protagonist Emi ‘Yar’ Kimura must infiltrate the mysterious ‘Qotech’ corporation.

The story trailer delves into Emi’s past a bit, along with giving us a glimpse at some of the game’s formidable enemies and boss characters that inhabit the Qotech building. We also get a sample of the game’s upbeat soundtrack, and we really can’t wait to hear more.

Let’s review the main features:

– 2D platform action: Emi must jump, blast, and sneak her way through waves of robotic and alien enemies. Her hidden powers are revealed as the game progresses, granting her wild enhancements and biohacks that allow her to reach previously inaccessible areas. A vast, interconnected map allows for hours of exploration.
Science Fiction Conspiracy: A seemingly never-ending mystery takes Emi from drab office buildings to hidden underground laboratories, even to the depths of space as she uncovers the dark truth behind the QoTech corporation and discovers her personal connection to an alien race.
Challenging mini-games in retro style: A series of hacking mini-games inspired by the original Yars’ Revenge game, beloved by fans for its fast-paced, top-down gameplay.
Hidden Move: Emi can’t always shoot or jump her way out of a sticky situation – tense sections of stealth gameplay force her to duck into the shadows to escape relentless security guards.
WayForward Classic Aesthetic Style: With beautifully rendered 3D environments and a cast of engaging characters, the WayForward team brings Emi’s story to life in a way that only they can.
