You can turn your old Android phone into a ham radio – here’s how

Smartphones have essentially replaced all other methods of communication, but sometimes having access to a radio can be a lifesaver — especially during disasters. Well, there’s a way to take an Android phone — maybe an old one you’ve tossed in a drawer — and turn it into a fully functional ham radio.

The phone’s battery powers the ham radio and power consumption is quite low but the radio can be physically disconnected by removing the cable.
