Today, as part of State of Play, we’re excited to reveal a first look at Concord’s gameplay, universe and characters, as well as how and when you can get your hands on the game –starting with a beta planned for later this year, followed by the global launch of Concord on PS5 and PC* on August 24, 2024.
Concord is a 5v5 multiplayer first-person shooter game set in the Concord galaxy.
We built Concord as a love letter to aspirational sci-fi adventure, inspired by our favorite artwork, anime, movies, and TV series. Combined with our deep love of multiplayer, we’re dedicated to creating must-have moments with your friends and a sense of adventure as you explore more of the galaxy , the characters you play as. and the worlds you visit every time you log in.
Freegunners: They’re not heroes, they’re experts
In Concord, you play as the crew of the Northstar—a gun-for-hire group known in our galaxy as the Freegunners. The Freegunners roam the stars taking on high-stakes jobs on Wild transdimensional worlds, where they face other fiercely competitive Freegunner teams. From match to match, you’ll form your team of Freegunners with other players and battle rival teams to take home rewards across a variety of maps and modes.
Freegunner Code: Crew first, job second
From the beginning, we wanted to create a tight, well-balanced FPS that feels great to play from the moment you pick up the controller.
While our core gunplay gameplay may seem familiar to shooter fans, the versatility and variety of each Freegunner and their abilities makes aiming and finger dexterity difficult. which is not always enough to come out on top. Each of Freegunner’s abilities is designed to be effective for players of various skill levels and play styles—even those new to the genre—while providing additional challenge and depth for those looking for high stakes, high returns. sweat competition.
From powerful mystics and towering robots to skilled gunmen and snipers, we want each Freegunner’s personality and gameplay abilities to come to life in every element of how they play. they play and the strategic considerations they make. Some of the Freegunner’s abilities are made for spur-of-the-moment tactics, including creating walls of fire, throwing exploding knives, or throwing trash bombs. Other things can have a lasting impact on the match, such as deployable walls that can block entire lanes, explosive traps, bullet-blocking domes, speed-boosting spores, etc. rounds and respawns.

Inspired by some of our favorite fighting and strategy games, all of these abilities and mechanics come together to create unique asymmetry for the characters and opportunities for improvisation. making every fight and every match a chance for something different and unexpected to happen.
Besides getting to know the crew of the Northstar through gameplay, you’ll also have the chance to watch their story unfold through cinematics that will roll out in-game, starting weekly from launch. debut. These brief vignettes will feature ongoing narrative arcs that develop the story, character relationships, and unpack the wider Concord galaxy and life as a Freegunner.
An evolving universe
The Concord Galaxy is full of danger and adventure, and we’ll discover much more in the coming weeks and months. At launch, Concord will have a roster of 16 distinct Freegunners to learn and master, and the Northstar team will grow over time through regular, free post-launch updates that introduce Freegunners , new playable maps, modes, cinematics, etc
