  • 3 points per dollar spent online grocery (excludes Target, Walmart and wholesale clubs)
  • 2 points per dollar spent on everything else travel shopping
  • 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases

Cardholders also receive one Bonus points of 10% annually based on their total spending during the account anniversary year at a rate of 1 point per $1 spent. So if you spend $20,000 on the card in a year, you’ll get 2,000 extra points at the end of the card.

Additionally, Chase Ultimate Rewards can transferred to 14 airline or hotel partners, including valuable programs such as Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France-KLM Flying Blue and World of Hyatt. You can maximize your rewards by booking ambitious business class tickets or picturesque vacations at island resorts for much less than the cash equivalent.

Bottom line

Chase Sapphire Preferred is one of these Top travel rewards credit cards on the market. It comes with tourism protection and up to $50 annual hotel statement credit for hotel purchases made through Chase Travel after each member’s anniversary date (one of My favorite perk). This covers more than half of the card’s already reasonable $95 annual fee.

It’s no surprise that many TPG employees continue to wear the Chase Sapphire Preferred year after year. With easy-to-maximize perks, high earning rates, and the usefulness of Chase Ultimate Rewards points, perhaps it deserves a place in any traveler’s wallet.
