Delta has upgraded certain SkyMiles members to Silver status for 6 months (targeted)

Attention, Delta SkyMiles Member: Check your e-mail box.

Some lucky members of the loyalty program were targeted to receive a free upgrade to Silver Medal status through November 30. Additionally, SkyMiles members can maintain that status until May 30, 2025, by Earn $2,500 medal eligibility before November 30.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be a specific pattern to which SkyMiles Delta members will award Silver status.

For example, a TPG reader named Christian Bowers told us that he doesn’t usually fly with Delta. He was “surprised” to receive automatic Silver Medal status until the end of November, as he had no loyalty to the carrier.

Bottom line

In the last year, Delta has introduced some big changes into its loyalty program, something many SkyMiles members are not happy about. Is Delta trying to increase loyalty in its program for SkyMiles members who don’t frequently fly the airline?

While Silver Medal status is an entry-level elite status, it does provide customers with some notable perks. Such perks include upgrades, free checked bags, and priority check-in and boarding. Additionally, to achieve Silver Medal status in 2025, SkyMiles members need to earn 5,000 MQD. So this promotion essentially allows members to get elite status for free for six months and extend their status for another six months by meeting half of the normally required MQDs.
