Saweetie recalls humble beginnings

In a new interview with Strength 106 in Los Angeles, the ‘Best Friend’ hitmaker recalls being broke and having nowhere to stay. The ‘My Type’ rapper also revealed that she actually “couch surfing” right after graduating from college.

“I remember being so proud to tell my friends and family that I had nowhere to stay. And I really like couch surfing, but it’s great because people always want me around. I don’t have to worry about having a place to stay. My housewives know what’s going on but I never want to take up space in someone’s house. So I will keep my wardrobe in the car,” Saweetie said.

Saweetie also said she had no confidence and felt bad when partying with her friends. However, she finally set herself a deadline to achieve her dream.

“I was able to get a job, but when we graduated, most of us were looking for full-time work. But if I work full time then I work 40 hours a week and if I work 40 hours a week that’s the same as going to school, so if I do that then I’m not doing music. So I just need to give myself a deadline,” she explained.
