Watch SMT V: African Gods Vengeance Onyankopon and Anansi


Atlus introduces new demons appearing in SMT V: Vengeance, including new African demons Anansi and Onyankopon. Other SMT V: Vengeance Demons recently detailed include Michael, Chironnupu, and Tzitzimitl.

Anansi is a trickster god and folk hero of West African origin, and he is prominent in Ashanti and Akan folklore. The interpretation of Anansi’s appearance is unclear, sometimes depicted as a spider, and sometimes as a human. Anansi’s design in SMT V: Vengeance appears to combine both descriptions and he is seen performing a unique Dark-type magic skill.

Onyankopon is the sky god of the Akan people of West Africa. Onyankopon is an alternate name for the supreme deity Nyame, and it is said to mean “the mighty one.” He is the god of creation, and people turn to him in times of difficulty for motivation and the will to persevere. Is a playable demon in SMT V: VengeanceOnyankopon seems to focus on support skills, with his unique King of Tale making enemies more vulnerable to attacks and increasing allies’ attack power to maximum level.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will come to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC via Steam on June 14, 2024. Original SMT V was released exclusively for Switch, and it will be delisted on the same day.
