iOS 18 AI Features to be Released as “Beta” or “Preview”: Apple Analyst

The WWDC event is only a few days away and with each passing day, predictions about Apple’s AI moves are creating more curiosity. So far, it has been revealed that Apple has signed an agreement with OpenAI. However, it is still eyeing Google’s Gemini model. Now, Apple analyst Mark Gurman has revealed some details about the upcoming iOS 18 update and its AI features that will likely be announced as a “Beta” or “Preview” version. Know more about what’s coming ahead of WWDC 2024.

iOS 18 AI features

According to Gurman’s Bloomberg report, the iOS 18 update and its AI features are expected to be released as a Beta or preview version before the official launch in September. The soft release could also suggest that the Apple’s AI revolution isn’t quite ready for widespread use. Apple has been slow to introduce AI into its devices. However, the company is planning something big this year to compete among brands like Google and Samsung. While Google’s AI move has changed radically with its image generation tool and now its AI overview, Apple is much more conscious of its belated but upcoming AI revolutions.

Gurman also emphasized that AI features for iOS 18 are not yet “finished.” However, there are some speculations about AI powering major iOS apps like Safari, Notes, Messages, Siri, and others. Additionally, we can also see features like voice memo transcription, Spotlight feature, email and text suggestions, etc. Apple is also said to be working on “emoji generation AI”, is expected to allow users to create their custom emojis. “That means you’ll suddenly have a whole new emoji for any occasion, on top of the catalog of options Apple currently offers on iPhone and other devices,” Gurman said.

However, it remains unclear how Apple plans to showcase all these iOS 18 features during the WWDC event because of its year-long delay. Now, the question is whether Apple will abandon its top brands? Or does it still have more work to do? We’ll only know when the company steps out of the shadows and reveals its plans for next year.
