How to Make the Most of Destiny 2 Extended Access, Live Now – PlayStation.Blog

Even if you are a novice Destiny 2 or haven’t played in a while, this could go down in history as the best month to get into the game. From May 7 to June 3, Bungie will give away all players access to The Witch Queen, Beyond Light, and Shadowkeep expansions (plus Lightfall if you’re a PlayStation Plus member) plus the past four Content Episodes!

That’s a lot to deal with in one month. Where does a Guardian even begin? We consulted with Bungie Community Lead Chris “Cozmo” Shannon to see what he recommends.

How to make the most of Destiny 2 Extended Access, live now

Skip ahead and prepare

“If you haven’t completed the New Light questline, you now have the option to skip it and get immediate access to all this content. There are two gifts you should also receive immediately. Visit Shaxx in the Hall of Champions to get high-powered gear from the Thunder God’s Gift chest, and visit Ikora in the Tower to pick up your new Light Set. Each set has Exotic armor and abilities for a different Light subclass. And you can get this equipment for each of your characters!”

Choose your own adventure

Once you’re prepared, it’s time to figure out your first adventure. There are so many places to explore, each with its own unique fantasy feel and story. Consider your play style and availability. Whether you have limited time and just want to explore or want to go all out and take advantage of this deal, Cozmo has some ideas to keep you on track.

Operation Solo: Witch Queen

Journey through the Throne World of Savathûn, a wonderland filled with darkness and light.

“I believe The Witch Queen is one of the best narratives we have done to date. We’ve spent time building up Savathûn as a complex villain and it’s thrilling to finally confront her and learn more about her history and motivations. Even if you’re not familiar with Savathûn, the campaign does a great job of telling her story and following you along the way. It has some great moments and ends with a spectacular boss battle.” – Chris “Cozmo” Shannon

Solo Campaign: Unlock Stasis in Beyond Light

Experience the dark power of Jupiter’s moon, the blizzard landscape of Fallen.

“If you like crowd control and the idea of freezing enemies and smashing them into blocks of ice, get Stasis. You can unlock this Darkness subclass by completing the Beyond Light campaign and receiving various quests from the Exo Stranger. She can also help you unlock more Stasis abilities.”

Solo or 3-player pairing activity: Reel from Season of Wishes

Descend below the Dreaming City, where a mysterious dragon maze awaits.

“Definitely check out The Coil. I believe this was one of the best activities we have ever done and one of the most rewarding. You can explore Riven’s dragon lair with different layouts each time you go through, dodging traps to protect your limited lives. Fight alone, bring friends or be automatically paired with a fire team.” – Chris “Cozmo” Shannon

Additional Challenge: Exotic Weapons of Shadowkeep

Discover the nightmarish secrets hidden beneath the Moon’s surface.

“Shadowkeep has some really great Exotic weapons but they are hard to come by. If you’re up for the challenge, assemble a group to take on the Symphony of Death Exotic quest for the Deathbringer Rocket Launcher and The Journey quest for the versatile, reliable Xenophage Heavy Machine Gun. If you’re a support player who wants a weapon that can really help your team and you’re ready for even more challenges, go after Divinity. However, find a good tutorial online. You will have to do a series of tricky puzzles and a raid.” – Chris “Cozmo” Shannon

Common: Fishing from Season of the Deep

Titan’s ocean floor is full of dangers, but fishing is not one of them.

“Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from the action and enjoy the simple pleasure of casting a line and pulling in a few fish and treasure every now and then. It’s great for relaxing alone or with friends. Additionally, you can collect various types of fish for your tank and visit them at your aquarium in HELM” – Chris “Cozmo” Shannon

Destiny 2: Lightfall is available on PlayStation Plus

On top of that, PlayStation Plus members will have access to the current Destiny 2 expansion, Lightfall, during this same period, which is included as a May Monthly Game.

“Lightfall has beautiful urban environments to visit and some action-packed encounters in later missions. It’s definitely worth playing once to pick up Strand and start swinging with the grappling ability.” – Chris “Cozmo” Shannon
